Spencer Davis; Rette Jones Racing set to tackle Kentucky Speedway

With the summer break in NASCAR K&N Pro Series East competition, Spencer Davis (@SpencerDavis_29) and his Rette Jones Racing (@RetteJones30) team will take advantage of the off weekend and return to NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series (NGOTS) competition together in Thursday night’s Buckle Up Your Truck 225 at Kentucky Speedway.

Earning four top-10 finishes in five K&N Pro Series East races this season, Davis and Rette Jones Racing co-owner Mark Rette hope to transition their success to the Gander Truck Series in their second NGOTS race of the year.

Earlier this year, the duo competed at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway in March and finished a respectable 20th. Now, back in Truck Series action four months later, the team is eyeing a solid performance.

“Let’s do this,” said Davis. “I’m excited to get another opportunity to compete in the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series this weekend and I’m hopeful we can have a strong run on Thursday night.”

With limited experience in the Gander Trucks on the mile-and-a-half tracks, Davis plans to lean on Rette and some of his closest friends for advice.

“Even though I’ve never been to Kentucky in a truck, I have experience on these intermediate tracks and I’m hoping that will help this week,” added Davis. “I ran the most recent Truck Series race at Chicagoland last month for another team and while we didn’t have the finish we hoped, the track time was priceless, and I think I’ll be able to process some of that knowledge back to our truck on Thursday.”

Of course, making the most of a limited Gander Truck Series effort is top priority for Davis and the RJR team. Gunning for a championship in the K&N East Series, the ability to invade the Gander Truck Series tour offers a chance to become a storyline while build the growing resume for Davis, a K&N Pro Series East winner.

“It’s all about learning and getting the experience, but we have a job to do too,” sounded Davis. “Mark (Rette) and these guys have busted their tails to work on this truck and get it ready. I feel like we’re confident we can go to Kentucky this week and contend for a top-10 finish.

“No question though, it’s going to be a tough field. The competition is really stiff in the Gander Truck Series right now, so I just want to make sure we’re doing everything we can from practice to qualifying and then see what happens in the race. We’ll make it fun though no matter what.”

Davis’s efforts behind the wheel of the No. 11 truck for Kentucky will be supported by ALLPRO Corporation and Tower Sealants.

ALLPRO Corporation is a business-to-business purchasing cooperative comprised of a network of independently owned paint and decorating product retailers. They serve over 280 such member retailers who represent approximately 1,400 storefronts located throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and parts of Europe.

Tower Sealants is a manufacturer of top-quality caulks and sealants. With the strong financial backing of M-D Building Products, Tower Sealants started construction of its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in September of 2005 and opened for business March 1, 2006.

“We’ve been working really hard on not only this truck race but the upcoming K&N East races for Spencer,” said Rette. “It’s important for me to make sure we’re putting Spencer in the best equipment possible. I know he can get the job done and I’m eager to see what we can deliver at Kentucky Speedway on Thursday night.”

RJR is co-owned by Canadian entrepreneur and former race car driver Terry Jones.

In 37 career NASCAR K&N Pro Series East starts, Davis has earned one victory (Dominion (Va.) Raceway 2016), two poles, achieved 17 top-five and 26 top-10 finishes. He has also 224 laps led in event competition.

Davis also has seven NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series (NGOTS) starts to his credit – four in 2018 driving for Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM), one in 2019 for Rette Jones Racing and Niece Motorsports. He earned two top-10 finishes including a career-best of seventh in his series’ debut at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway.

The Buckle Up Your Truck 225 (150 laps| 225 miles) is the 13th of 23 NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series races on the 2019 schedule. Practice begins on Thurs., July 11 from 9:35 a.m. – 10:25 a.m. A final practice session is set for 11:05 a.m. – 11:55 p.m. Qualifying is set for later in the day beginning at 4:05 p.m. The 32-truck field will take the green flag shortly after 7:30 p.m. with live coverage on FOX Sports 1 (FS1), the Motor Racing Network (Radio) and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio (Satellite Radio, Channel 90). All times are local (Eastern).
